Healthy Dentistry, proudly announces the recipients of the prestigious Kilimitzoglou Awards for exceptional dental students at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. These awards recognize students who exemplify outstanding passion, ethical behavior, and pioneering spirit in dentistry.
Celebrating Current Awardees
This year's distinguished recipients are:
Stanley Faynblut, recipient of the Dimitrios Kilimitzoglou Pioneer in Dentistry Award. This honor is awarded to a fourth-year student who demonstrates extraordinary passion, zeal, pride, and enthusiasm towards dentistry, significantly exceeding standard curriculum expectations. Candidates must apply and provide substantial evidence showcasing their pioneering contributions.
Jackie Kostenko and Arielle Adams, recipients of the Kilimitzoglou Endowed General Dentistry Award. This award honors graduating students who display excellence, strong ethical practices, and a deep commitment to advancing general dentistry. Awardees must plan to enter General Practice Residency programs after graduation.
Dr. Kilimitzoglou’s Commitment to Dentistry
Twenty years ago, Dr. Kilimitzoglou established the Dimitrios Kilimitzoglou Pioneer in Dentistry Award to inspire and reward students who display exceptional dedication and innovation in dentistry. Around ten years ago, he furthered his commitment by establishing the Kilimitzoglou Endowed General Dentistry Award, highlighting his ongoing support for students committed to ethical practice and excellence.
Inspirational Journey and Diverse Interests
Jimmy's passion for dentistry began early, sparked by an impactful childhood dental visit. Inspired by his dentist's confidence and skill, he dedicated his life to dentistry, blending interests in art, science, technology, and psychology into his career.
Outside the clinic, Jimmy enjoys music, scuba diving, soccer, motorcycling, and martial arts (holding a black belt in Tae Kwon Do). Most importantly, he cherishes his role as a father to his twin sons.
A Legacy of Generosity and Mentorship
Dr. Kilimitzoglou personally donated $100,000 to Stony Brook University, reflecting his profound gratitude and commitment to his alma mater. Through these significant contributions, he has established multiple endowed scholarships and awards to support and inspire future dental professionals. Since 2006, he has created multiple endowed scholarships and awards to support and encourage future dental professionals.
Jimmy remains an active mentor, shaping future dental leaders with an emphasis on trust, excellence, and compassionate care. His mentor, Dr. Mark Wolff of NYU College of Dentistry, recalls Jimmy’s continuous drive and commitment to excellence.
